Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania Sign Joint Declaration for AFCON 2027

Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have signed a joint declaration as preparations continue for AFCON 2027.

The three East African countries signed the agreement on Monday, May 11, 2026. The declaration is aimed at improving coordination and cooperation before the tournament.

AFCON 2027 will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania under the PAMOJA banner.

The agreement is known as the CAF Joint Resolution – TotalEnergies AFCON PAMOJA 2027.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe witnessed the signing in Kenya. Motsepe is in the country for the Africa Forward Summit 2026.

The summit is focused on building new partnerships in business, innovation and development. It also aims to promote equal partnership and move away from old systems based on aid.

Tanzania was represented by the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda.

Other Tanzanian football leaders also attended the event. They included Tanzania Football Federation president Wallace Karia.

The signing is an important step for the three host nations.

It gives Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania a stronger joint framework as they continue planning for one of Africa’s biggest football events.

AFCON 2027 will be a major moment for East African football. The tournament is expected to bring together top national teams from across the continent.

For Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, the joint declaration shows a shared commitment to deliver a well-organised tournament.
